Ecofeminism meets education: Nitisha Pandey's eco-conscious insights. Explore the sustainable path with this visionary educator.
It all started when Nitisha realized that the amount of menstrual waste she created is here to stay for the next 800 years. Nitisha Pandey is a development practitioner & the founder of The Bloody Feminist.
Access to affordable eco-friendly period products is one of the biggest challenges she feels. Especially in socio-economically challenged communities. One challenge she has been fighting to get a solution to is a way to quantify behavioral change. She also found it difficult to raise funds for giving eco-friendly period products to menstruators. Seeing tangible shifts in people & organizations post the awareness sessions is another challenge she faces in her routine.
Nitisha has been able to advocate for sustainable menstruation & its impact on the health of people & planet. So, she rightly knows that climate crises are affecting women & girls the most.
How she’s fighting her way is that she has partnered with eco-friendly period brands to make their products available at a subsidized cost. She keeps on raising funds for helping economically lower-class females. She also keeps on connecting with like minded people which would help her community & the planet grow green.
Practicing sustainable living has made Nitisha more mindful of the resources around her. It has also made her believe how she can shift the behaviours of the people in her circle of influence. It has enabled her to view sustainability from an intersectional lens. She has been able to apply these perspectives of climate change in her work with adolescent girls at risk of child marriage.
She has been using her knowledge & resources to create access to information of affordable products amongst individuals & organisations. Along with that she has also been advocating sustainable brands that can replace unsustainable existing products in the house.
